Square-Enix has done a total 180 today (previously stating they would NOT do digital downloads of their classics) and is supporting PS1 classics on PSN in japan. The following games are avalible starting TODAY at 600 Yen each (WTF? how did sony pull that off). Xenogears (Square) Einhander (Square) Astronoka (Enix) Rakugaki Showtime (Enix) Raystorm (Taito) Fighters Impact (Taito) Mmmmm Square enix has the whole ps1 arcive of Square, Enix & Taito to milk. This could get interesting.
Yep, Square owns them now. They still publish as "Taito" in japan but recently their USA/Canada stuff is published by Square-Enix.
That makes me sad, Taito did alot of great games. Now they are a part of the giant toilet that is Square. ='( Square should have spared its dignity and all commited suicide when their games turned to shit.
Sweetnes, though I'm like 99.99999999999999999% certain that there won't be any FF material for a long time
Actualy, Taito is doing well under S-E. Space Invader Extreme is getting rave reviews and on top of it S-E actualy released it as a $20 budget title in USA.
Besides, SE announced 12 titles. And there are several titles on the nintendo VC -Actraiser (Enix/Quintet) -Bubble Bobble (Taito) -Elevator Action (Taito) -Front Line (Taito) -Front Mission: Gun Hazard (Square/Omiya Soft) -Hanjuku Hero (Square) -King's Knight (Square/Workss) -Operation Wolf (Taito) -Pooyan (Taito) -Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Nintendo/Square) -The Legend of Kage (Taito) -Treasure Hunter G (Square/ST!NG)
I bet anything we will never see these games on the US or UK PSN store due to how slow they are putting up games the Japanese have had for awhile.
So is Enix. :3 But yeah, we're not gonna see these in the U.S. anytime soon. PSN drags its feet just as badly as VC.
How boring... though it always fascinates me how people get excited over some dull files that were available as full games for a decade, sometimes even in several versions. In my very holy opinion, this shit is just another way to burn money.
