For the Art Alone I'm checking out Eternal Poison. I'll probably check more out if I end up liking the game.

What other SRPGs are worth a look. I had Generation of Chaos for a short time and it was horrible.

    Fire Emblem
    Arc the Lad

I wouldn't suggest NIS, their games seem to hardly ever evolve. I hear good things about Soul Nomad though. People say its the closest to a WRPG styled one that you can get to.

If you ever get your hands on a PSP I recomend the following.

    . Jean D'arc
    . Wild Arms XF
. Disgaea 1 (Rumor D2 is comming next year)

Battle Robot Retsuden is a nice SRPG for the SFC, its like a Super Robot Taisen Game with all the licenses and music and stuff.

2 other unmentioned games would be Sakura Taisen, if you dont mind a bit of Novel-like Adventure around the Battles, and Wachenröder (i love the style of that game). There are english scripts for both on GameFAQs aswell, so you can enjoy the story

I recommend Langrisser. There are I believe two on Genesis that you can play in english and then Der Langrisser on SNES. If you only play one, play Der Langrisser on SNES.

Which did you buy? There are a handful of Langrisser games. The only one that came out here was the first game that was renamed Warsong and it was for Genesis. I don't have it though I'd like to get a copy someday, but I do own Der Langrisser for Super Famicom. Awesome game.

the ole' Famicom (and 3 SNES, MegaDrive, PSX, GC etc) Captain Tsubasa games are a mix of classic and SRPG, following a soccer theme in accord to the anime. Having finished the first 2 on the Famicom I highly reccomend them if you're into 8bit magic. The graphics and effects were pretty amazing for the day. The games are by tecmo (the SRPG ones)
