    Translation: Anyone try a SSD in their xbox? You think it would impact performance if at all?

    Its all limited on the Sata port, but Hear that it does improve speed and -blam!-.

    SSD = Solid State Drive.

    ssd wont make much difference on a 360 its limited by the controller rather than the drive.

    For throughput maybe... but SATA 1 is around 150MB/s - which no 2.5" spinning disk is hitting. So its probably not the controller limiting things (unless its an artificial limit).

    But seek times and random access will ALWAYS be much improved with SSD.

    Microsoft didn't start adding SSD optimizations into their operating systems until Windows 7.
    The Xbox 360 OS/kernel was developed before Windows Vista.

    You probably would see a negligible performance gain and it would probably just wear your SSD down since the OS is not optimized to read/write using that type of media.

    You will have greatly improved access time.

    Windows XP runs fast as fuck on a ssd. The os not being optimised doesn't mean you won't get massive speed increases. But you are correct about wear and such.

    I figured the sata controller would be the deal breaker. Thanks for the info.
