Indeed. Lost Odyssey is a masterpiece. Though personally, I was very much a fan of Blue Dragon's gameplay. The job system and the circle system for initiating combat were both fun as hell. Though admittedly, it was much better if you were playing on Hard.
I may have to check out Lost Odyssey, but will blame you chaps if it turns out to be pants I'm disapointed to hear bad things about Operation Darkness though. I certainly liked the premise of the story, and have always been a fan of the tactically orientated JRPGs more. I guess I'll have to wait and see..
Except when you consider the hype and the relative lack of alternative on the XB360. 500k worldwide is pretty poor in terms of performance.
Better not tell Sakaguchi that, because he seems to be quite happy with its sales. But no, you're right. Blue Dragon did really poor. Thats why Microsoft is sweeping it under the rug alongside Azurik, Sudeki, Blood Wake, Kung Fu Chaos, etc. and never asked Mistwalker to make a sequel. Oh... wait...
