I have only recently read about watching Star Wars in the so-called machete order
    http://static.nomachetejuggling.com/machete_order.html

Which is IV,V,II,III,VI, cutting Episode I out completely.

A lot of people seem to hate Episode I, especially the Pod Race.
I love the Pod Race, it is a really good home cinema benchmark. Maybe that is the problem with this scene, a lot of people have not seen Episode I at the movies or in a home cinema, just on a tiny monitor with stereo sound. Sure, then it is underwhelming. Also it does not add to the story at all, I understand that, but I am still a teenager at heart and I love action scenes. I want to be entertained :friendly_wink:

    What do you think?

P.S.: Jar Jar Binks was by far not as annoying as everyone said...

Really bad read. But I've stopped at "Fewer characters to learn about, so the story is more focused."

Really. What an idiot. Really. Looks like someone that got angry with the happenings in Episodes II and III. They are really meant to be bad. The bad wins, all that stuff... Some people don't like this kind of narrative.

My watching order is the best: "Release date".

Episode I is the best. Looks like this guy is more old. He doesn't like younger characters...
Maybe he never had the chance to play Star Wars Racer...
I'm not telling that the game makes the movie better, but saying that the Pod Race is the worst movie scene is pathetic.

IMO, Episode I is more faithful to the first Trilogy. II and II are maybe "too trendy".

I love Episode I, it's probably my most watched, I just thought it was a very sincere Star Wars movie, very likeable and fun to watch.

Jar Jar Binks is the only reason why I'll never watch Episode one again. He fucking annoyed the shit out of me. Oh, and the young Anakin Skywalker is annoying too.

The first Star Wars movies I watched were the original versions of IV, V and VI on some old VHS tape at a friend's house in around 1996 or 1997. I watched Episode 1 in the theatres when I was 11 and I found it great - but looking back, it's clearly the worst for me, followed by the awful Episode 2. I didn't find JarJar Binks funny when I was 11 and I don't think he's funny now.

The only version of Episode I anyone should watch is the Red Letter Media Episode I review.

All the prequels are just completely terrible, and I feel like Episode I gets too much hate considering Episode II might actually be worse. Either way they're all completely full of plot holes and inconsistencies with the original trilogy (Owen and Beru don't recognize C-3PO in A New Hope because...?), bad acting (Hayden Christensen...fucking hell) and bad dialogue ("I wish I could wish away these feelings!"). Not to mention the stupid midi-chlorians, the pod race scene which is like watching someone play Wipeout except more boring, and Jango Fett being shoved in there to sell more Boba Fett stuff to dumbasses.

Episode III is the best of the prequels by far, but it's still shit. Notable things include the whole plot being based on something Palpatine told Anakin that could've easily been a lie (don't trust Sith Lords, moron!), the pointless character and side plot of General Grievous, Anakin turning into Palpatine's apprentice happening in about three minutes, the sad attempt at "political commentary" (man, I hope these references to W's speeches won't totally date the movie as being from 2005 or anything!), the horrible overblown light saber fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan - at one point they start spinning their sabers pointlessly without even trying to hit each other, and to top it off, Padme dying "because of grief"...what?!

They suck because Lucas sucks as a director. Face it, If someone can't get a good performance out of Samuel "Motherfucking" Jackson then they suck as a director. He simply got lucky with IV and by many accounts he did a pretty piss poor job of directing that one as well.

Seems like a moot point once you've seen em all. There's no way in hell that I'll ever have the time or interest to sit and watch 5-6 movies in a row, so it doesn't really matter.

Do people really sit and watch that many movies back-to-back?

I don't think anyone would say Lucas is especially good as a director or writer. There's a reason why the best movie in the series isn't directed by him, too bad Robocop 2 made Irvin Kershner never want to direct again.

Its great to see prequel fans here! I am an old school Star Wars fan from when they first came out in theaters and I really enjoy the prequels. I think they are actually Lucas' real vision of what he wanted Star Wars to be when he first thought of the concept but because of budget could never get it there.

I really enjoy the saga as it is right now. I'm weary of Ep. 7 and I'm not sure I like JJ Abrams directing. But at least we got the finished story of how Anakin turned to Darth Vader.

Episode I is my favourite from the prequels. It's the only one I can happily watch from any point when I'm flicking through the channels and its on. 2 & 3 (especially 3) were pretty awful.

I saw I in the movie theater on opening night, I wish I didn't spend the money after seeing it. It's basically 'The New Hope' with a race mixed in, then it doesn't help that George Lucas stated it was a retelling. :/
