I remember I readed a very long article about Starcraft Ghost in end of 2002 that said the game was pratically complete : then, from 2003 to today, the game kept changing of dev team. So I think the version planned for 2003 was not far from gold, but then, there have been so many builds from so many teams, and very few communication, that I don't think that any version have been as complete as the one that Consoles + played to. At the moment, the game haven't been officially cancelled : Blizzard said in early 2006 that they take the game back from the last studio that was working on it to work themselves on : off course, the game will probably released on new generation... Or maybe on PS2, but for a game that costed so much to dev, that would be quite ridiculous (6th year of dev)
If it were any other company, the game would have been shipped as "complete" long ago, but it's Blizzard perfectionists here. -hl718
the multiplayer on this game looked interesting, imo. but ive already attributed its 'next gen' future status to read as 'cancelled' personally
hl718, would you agree with me in saying that Starcraft Ghost would be better off shipping/being modified for Wii instead of re-written for next gen consoles and massively updated?
they could still tweak the controls for wii, less expensive thar re-doing the whole game. besides, Rampage and Metal Slug play fine with a GC controller.
Based on what I've seen, it'd do well if Blizzard simply shipped it for Xbox and made sure that BC was working so it'd also run on the 360. -hl718
I remember seeing this at E3 2005.. so it's not out yet? oh well.. Blizzard is known for taking forever to release games.
I love the Starcraft universe and this game looked interesting but I believe it's been cancelled. It'd be good to see it released as a Wii game (I think I remember a GC version was made too) but I'd prefer it with a classic style control.
There was hardly any interest in Starcraft Ghost. It was similar to Deus Ex: Invisible War and since that game didn't sell well Blizzard canned it. Every StarCraft fan is waiting for StarCraft 2, not some spin-off.
I saw a LITTLE potential in Starcraft Ghost, and from what I've seen and read, it looks like it would be more fun than Warhammer 40,000 Fire Warrior (a somewhat mediocre WH40K inspired FPS, with a few cool spots) and this is coming from a huge Warhammer 40K fan. This game was pretty much finished, several times over, but it would have been a dud, imo. The Multiplayer mode was what I thought was fun, but games like Battlefield 2142 had better graphics, gameplay, and even the same types of modes that Ghost would have had, minus the Zerg and Protoss elements. Oh and lets face it, only 3 people would be playing it online if it was released, IF that. And there were stated to be no bots in multiplayer. Yippee. Who knows, Blizzards next big idea may be World of Diablo or World of Starcraft.
Not sure if I should even be saying this or not, but I know irl the *edit* for the game. The game, as you know it, is dead (despite what Blizzard has said to the contrary). The game was complete with the exception of a few months of bug testing and tweaking still needed when the word came down from the brass that it was to be scrapped. Their reasons were that they believed it didn't "feel enough like Starcraft". Oh, and the game kicks ass. any other questions? edit: Removed identitiy of contact so I don't get him in trouble.
