http://store.steampowered.com/app/287340/ Pls, remove this shit. Lies, lies and more lies. It is not Colin McRae Rally or Colin McRae Rally 2.0. Its a port (thank god for Uglity3D) of crappy mobile game that have nothing to do with them except the name. Its not from the developers of CMR, Codemasters, its from a crappy mobile studio, Thumbstar Games, developers of Candy Crush and Arkanoid clones. It have no content of CMR 2.0. It doesnt return to PC since its not the damn CMR or CMR 2.0. And who in the hell mind the 90% of CMR 2.0 in MC since its not CMR 2.0?
I added it to my wishlist yesterday and removed minutes later, when i found out it was the mobile port. I still have Colin McRae 2.0 Cdrom somewhere, does anyone know if it works on win7 and current videocards?
I have CMR2.0 disc since it's original release and was unable to run it in XP or wine (original exe or no-cd). In wine it simply quits in 1-2 seconds without opening any windows or any messages in console. Tried setting version to win98 - no luck either. There's a chance that it will work in virtual machine with 98SE though (if there's any that has 3D support in win98).
I was about to buy it when I saw it on Facebook, checked it out and thought it looked good. After reading the reviews I also stopped when I saw it was a mobile port. Falsely advertised it seems and a quick cash grab. DiRT3 was pretty crap compared to DiRT 2. Didn't have the same appeal and constantly being talked to in the menus on DiRT3 put me off. EDIT: It's for sale on Android store at the moment, at the price it should be. It's port, and apparently all CM have done is redo the car models a bit (that was said from a team member) so there you go, not worth the extra $4.
I don't understand why they didn't took the effort to add the real Colin McRae Rally 2.0 on Steam. I mean if they paid for the licenses for the mobile port, why not include the real game? Another great addition would be Rally Championship 2000: Does anyone know if MagneticFields software still exist?
Hilariously enough Gamespot made an article warning people of this: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-colin-mcrae-game-on-steam-is-probably-not-the-/1100-6421457/
