I was just browsing the local craigslist and came across this: http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/Steam-Tendo-Nes_14493471 I'm not quite sure what to think of this. I'm also half tempted to make an offer on it...
I joked with a friend today that I should remove all of the transistors from a NES and replace them with vacuum tubes. At least the ones pertaining to audio. Then bill it as an "audiophile" edition NES.
Yes! YES! Why the hell would you do all that work only to gimp yourself with 1 controller port. Force people to use a multi-tap? The idea is nice, but it looks like a rough job.
Really? 6000 Should be a top loader with a thick leather flap covering the slot. missing some gauges and pipes, id use a analog looking gauge for the power on status and a few small analog multi meter gauges for the audio line out..with the stereo mod. see them thumping to the music/sfx Add some old fashion knobs to the stereo pots who needs a rgb modded nes when you could have that.
i've been toying with adding a stereo mixer to the NES an getting real stereo sound. adding tubes would be extra lulz.
Ha. Nice idea but terrible execution - WTF is that random hinge for on the front? A couple of valves thrown in for no apparent reason, terrible wood joints, and a bit of child-like writing on the front. Pretty nasty job LOL.
I like it, its different, and unusual . . . I wouldn't plug that into any outlet in my house however, but I do like it
This is the steam NES I built When I started it over three years ago, no one out there had made one. Now everyone has made them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF_rWDWfqZI and www.AnthonyBurkert.com let me know what you think. Hey where's the Vectrex icon?
