I'm hoping that I can use my current PDP for the similar project when we upgrade PDP... still I need to find some space and I don't even have enough space in the garage...
My brother and I were planning something similar for when he bought his house, only with old Pentiums and Mechwarrior 2 . This is my dream come true, though...
I don't know, I find that to be a rather awesome idea myself - both the Steel Battalion or the Mechwarrior 2 ones. A little immersion like that can go a long way. Plus, if you've already shelled out the money for the SB controller, odds are that you'd want to just go all the way and make a total experience out of it. I know I would! :-D
We had both been wanting some sort of "real" Mech simulation experience. Steel Battalion is a bit pricy for me, and we have all sorts of old computer parts lying around (I never throw anything away...), so a few joysticks and some plywood would go a long way with us. I don't mind setting something like this up, the problem is finding the space to put it. My garage is a joke, so that's why we were waiting for him to buy a house. I'm not sure if his wife will go for it, though. At any rate, it's a better idea than the $4,000 Battletech machines he was looking at on eBay.
