I've seen the stereo jack to rca mods out there, but would it be possible to tap the stereo jack and have the audio sent through din port to an RGB cable?

Not perfect, IIRC every pin has a use. Stereo mod takes replacing one of the din's other signals.

While I don't think it'd be difficult to install a jack with more pins like Megadrive 2 or Saturn, I've never heard of that tested.

It wouldnt need testing. Its obviously fine. If you replace at connector and wire up the lead to match - it will work.

Also, the 8 pin din carries composite sync and composite video - so you could remove one of those and rewire the cable.

Cool sounds hopeful. I might try again to see if I can get such an idea applied to my MVS board. :encouragement:

If you aren't going to use RGB you can kill composite sync and tap the right audio point into pin 7.

I did it. It works. But now I went rgb and had to rebuild the trace. I'm getting stereo from the jack on the front.

You can just remove composite video and leave comp sync for rgb. Or you can wire composite video to sync so it will work with both composite and rgb

Or he could use the metal shield round part as a 9th pin. It works despite the minimal interference :s

Genesis uses a mini DIN connector as does the Saturn but for whatever reason I can't seem to source the same connector for the Saturn. Odd pin arrangement or something of the sort.

Personally I'm a fan of discrete audio connectors. Obviously this means you have to put some holes in the case but it also means you don't have to worry about sourcing specific cables again.

After looking further into it, this seems to be the easiest solution - found some Neo scart cables for sale with Stereo audio inputs.
