(Sorry if this is in the wrong section) Recently I went to a local thrift store. I was searching through the video game section when I saw this: I own six Playstations and have owned many more but Ive never seen one like this. I know that its a store demo unit but thats all I know about it. On the bottom it says that its a "SCPH-1001" and that its refurbished. Ignoring the warning on the disc drive, I plugged it in and it functioned like a normal playstation. I popped in Gran Turismo and played it for a while, it worked fine. Is this a "collectors" piece or is it like any old playstation? I'm curious about the wire sticking off the top. Does that happen to hook up to the demo stand or something? The label is slightly worn off and the system is kind of yellowed in case anyone would wonder.
It is a collectors item now. The white and red cable go directly to the reset switch for the reset button on the kiosk.
At the retro game store in the city I live in, there's a Playstation cabinet, presumably a demo like this one. I'll have to take a picture of it.
