So Basically, this little beauty is a N64 controller that has RCA cords that can plug into a TV. It has 64 NES games build into it and no markings or labels at all. No joy stick, just D pad, A and B buttons are start and select, C buttons are A, B, Turbo and something else. The port that's located on the middle handle seems to be similar to a SEGA master system controller port.

Anyone care to help identify this piece of RARE AND OBSCURE GAMING?

Pal NES carts don't fit in the port though... So hong-kong bootlegs only?

You'll able to play many Famicom carts. With some compatibility differences. There are both bootlegs requiring a clone, and official games they won't run.

Most infamous for not working on clones is US Castlevania 3 (Japanese version has better clone success rate). Often even pin adapters to play on original Famicom need modifying for that game.

Thanks for the all the info, Its still a nice laugh to play the 64 built in games! I might be sending this one off to ashens to review and try to make sense of!

Ah so thats why the carts don't fit, so the Jap carts are different... Just going off what info my brother gave me on this thing.

Yeah what I haven't actually seen attempted are Jap cart adapters for Master System. I might pay a few eyes and a lung to have somebody build one, technical curiosity if they'll function in practice.

It could be hard... I mean I can't just say I'll pay a healthy price for something that unpopular. People will think I'm kidding to want it. But any offer too low won't get any interest, given the labor needed.
I'd have to strike at the right time. Offer to cough up just enough cash to make somebody with soldering skill leap to my rescue palms open to place money into.

    Anyway I'm going off topic.

Yup if all goes according to plan, one day I'll have a console superior to Japan SMS. No factory model was released with FM sound and the keyboard port. Plus AFAIK (which could be totally wrong) Japan systems don't have an easy place to toggle English mode.

I've been looking all over for a SMS->Mark 3 converter so that I can play US NTSC games on my JPN SMS. Tototek used to make them, but they've been out of stock for years now. This'll do just fine. Thank you so much for this post!

Right. What I want is the much harder to find opposite way few care about. I'm still working on how to go about it. Need to come up with schematics, who to construct it, necessary parts, labor costs...

If you can ever get your hands on one of those tototek converters, you should be able to swap the connections and have the sort of converter you describe.

It's not that easy. Different number of pins. You'd have to somehow replace the converter's top and bottom ends, with the other region console's equivalent.

That's what I meant about swapping the connections. Although I'm curious now - why exactly do you want such a converter? AFAIK SG-1000 games won't play on a US SMS.
