    Hi everybody,
I just got a Everdrive MD and its causing a rather peculiar problem:
When I'm in the menu my controller does absolutely nothing, but when I just slightly plug in the controller and wiggle it, the everdrive interprets
this as "up", when i do the same with a old COM port PC-mouse it goes down, and finally an Atari2600 delux controller will cause "start+A".
So with that I was able to Start a game; which worked absolutely fine with my controller just like my other Cards.

So this Problem is only present in the everdrive menu...
but since I found nothing similar on the Internet my Megadrive might be the cause... but I can't figure out what could be causing it since it only appears with the everdrive. Why would the everdrive OS interpret input from the control port any different than a normal game??

    Some details
I use a switch modded PAL Megadrive model 1(build in1992) the mainboard says: IC BD M5 PAL VA4
Everdrive: OS v33 firmware i believe the newest there is
I unfortunately do not have another system or controller at the time but i will in a week or so.

Thanks for any shared thoughts and comments.

OS 35 is the newest. Try updating to that. I have same cart. I've had no issues on my model 1, 2, 3 and Nomads with multiple 3 and 6 button controllers. My consoles are NTSC-U but the model 3 is modded for the quad region setup and Everdrive works just fine in every region setting. Sounds to me like either you got a bad download of the OS or the firmware is wonky. OS is easy to fix by going to V35 but firmware needs a JTAG connection and is best left to Krikzz. There is the rare chance that the hardware is faulty but that doesn't happen very often.

Here's where the latest OS is at. It's at the bottom. os-v35.bin:

Another thought is it could possibly be the Megadrive itself. Try another one if you have it.

Thanks for the help, but I wasn't able to update the OS because I couldn't get a "A button" input

Anyway the solution was simple and kind of embarrassing:

It was my controller that was faulty, I've gotten my hands on a second controller and it works fine...
My guess is that the everdrive is very picky about the correct controller input (but why i don't know)

    I will try to find out what the problem with my controller is; maybe the select pin has some issues;
in any case it’s still good enough for player 2
