I never had a trouble like this, maybe anyone of you knows what's happening.
Last night I finally tried to connect my Geforce 7200GS to my CRT TV by the S-Video output, the first trouble was that the video card never detected the TV, even when it was on and I plugged the cable with the computer off. Like I couldn't make the computer detect the TV I decided to force the detection of a TV on the S-Video port in the NVidia Control Panel.
Well, I could see the desktop on the television but the contrast was damn high (even more that what Control Panel can handle) and all DualView, clone or extend monitor features were disabled. Then I restored the settings to see everything back on my monitor but the contrast was still high as hell, I had to restart the computer to put it back to normal.
By the way, I know the TV S-Video input works fine since I had it connected to my old FX5200and never had any kind of problems.

Did something like this happened to anyone before? Do you guys have any idea of how to fix it? Thanks a lot in advance.

For the contrast being high, i remember having that exact same problem a while back and i'm not too sure what it was i did??

If i remember correctly it was in The " adjust video colour settings " that i changed the contrast and used the tick box to apply the setting to all video technologies, i may have messed about with other colour settings as well but that semmed to get the colour ok.

Well, I've been doing some research and it seems the trouble was with the nVidia Control Panel, only the latest versions work decently with Windows Vista, I'll download the latest forceware and see what happens...

It may be probably that, I used to have a similar problem with my old FX5700LE, it didn't even recognize the TV and after updating the nVidia software it worked perfectly well.

Also if it fails try looking for some of those hacked/patched drivers, but the bottom line is that NVIDIA's TV-Out is simply awfull

In all the different NVIDIA cards I tried I allways had trouble setting things up, the image never looked rightand needed lots of color/contrast/misx tweaks, sometimes the TV wasnt detected or detected in the wrong order, lots of screenflicker, options and settings missing between drivers...

On the other hand all the ATI cards I tried had a perfect TV picture/connection at first try whithout any need for extra settings or configurations.

Damn, no matter how many times I update, uninstall and reinstall the forceware drivers, the only thing I could fix was the contrast. I can still only use one screen at a time and the TV simply won't be detected.

I know the nVidia troubles with TV out, the thing is I get nVidia cards a lot cheaper than the ATI's (20/30% less), so switching to ATI is not an option since for the same money I can get a better Geforce.

I'll see what happens, at least nVidia seems to be updating the drivers often to improve Vista compatibility (and they sell these cards under the slogan "Essential Vista"), maybe it's just a matter of time, or at least I hope so...
