I've got a Super Famicom a few days ago. I opened the system and found a small pcb inside which doesn't seem to be official:

A bunch of wires goes from the pcb under the SFC mainboard.

Does anyone know what it is?

Does that SFC output 60Hz (or 50Hz) PAL video? If it does, that pcb could be a PAL encoder. Importers in Europe had to find some way of making imported SFCs work with regular televisions.

I remember something similar on a megadrive and it was a pal encoder, yes

So it's definitively not an overclocking mod, isn't it?

Put in Super R-Type and find out.

Seriously, though, the SFC/SNES is comparatively overclocking-averse. It crashes with the slightest CPU speed increase.

It's probably CXA1145P which is an RGB encoder, so it's encoding the RGB to a nice PAL signal...

that could be true. The chip has a lot of glue on top, it was pretty difficult to read anything.

    Thanks for your help:thumbsup:
