I'm running a 25ft HDMI to DVI-D cord from my projector to my desktop. The maximum supported resolution is 1600x1200 UXGA. LCD panel Specs say, ".99 inch TFT 2,359,296 pixels (1024x768x3)." 1024x768 Works fine. When I force 1600x1200 on my desktop, The screen will shake and green lines will sort of "rain" on the left side of the screen. But it will only happen on a black background. If I bring up lets say control panel(I'm using win 7) the screen will look fine. When I go back to my black desktop the "green rain" will come back. I figured my on board video card just couldn't handle it, so i bought a Radeon HD4650 for $20. (1gb GDDR2) I still have the same issue. I know I'm not getting interference because If I use my laptop at 1600x1200 it works completely fine. I've messed with it for hours and can't figure it out. I don't really know that much about video signals and I have some questions. Is it better to run maximum resolution or native resolution? 1600x1200 or 1024x768? Should I just swap my HDMI cable for a VGA? I can run 1600x1200 over VGA but It would be an analog signal not digital. Is 1600x1200 over HDMI(digital) better than 1600x1200 over VGA(analog)? I'm a bit fuzzy on all the details because I was messing with this a month ago.
Refresh rate reports from laptop and desktop at 60hz. The projector also reports 60hz. I can upload some pics if that might help. It just extremely annoys me that it works fine from my laptop and not desktop. The video card in my desktop surpasses my laptop capabilities.
