For years I have been a Mortal Kombat fan. I still am, and the older 2d mortal kombat games are amongst my favourite games, but I also understand the appeal of the street fighter games. The problem is, I've been used to fighting MK-style for so long that I just can't get any grasp on how street fighter games are supposed to be played, so all I'm doing is mashing buttons, and that's infuriating. Is there any website around here that would teach me a bit how to play those games? or would anyone here give me a few tips? because I've got street fighter alpha 3 max on my psp, and as much as I suck at it, it's admittedly more fun than mortal kombat unchained on the same console.
Shameless self promotion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHWauCAKx24 This should get your famular with Street Fighter... sort of

Most of the major characters use half and quarter circles + any button. It's quite simple to get into, but the learning curce is almost infinite.
Jump kick to the head followed immediately by a sweep kick to the shins...rinse and repeat. Been a last ditch game winner for me for years xD EDIT: with ryu ken or akuma, other characters kick dynamics don't work with this method.
You can do the same with Ryu, Chun Li or Sakura. If you're playing against a skilled player, however, this beginner's tactic will be useless because it can easily be cancelled with a shoryuken/hadouken every time.
That's only if your slow, if it's just head, shin, head, shin till death u can't do shit..I used this method without fail ( only as a 3rd round omg I'm gonna lose tactic) till ssf3zero when it became less potent.
That flow chart is awesome, reminded me of some fun times....is he close? No, fuck it, SHORYUKEN!!!
Oh my! Someone that can't play Street Fighter! Well, IMO, newcomers should try a crossover with some kind of "automatic" combos so they can understand how the game should be played when you are good (when you know what you're doing). Try X-Men vs. Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom and you'll understand the power of the hadouken and the shoryuken.

LOL at this flowchart. The one you mentioned is the best! No? Fuck it! SHORYUKEN!!! :clap:ray::lol:
M.I.X. the flower into the bowl! Anyway, Street Fighter Alpha 3 is probably the best game to start on since it has a wide variety of characters and modes. I ended up buying SFA3 MAX with my PSP, and I think it's pretty good! Most moves can be pulled off by pressing Down and Back/Forward (once for regular moves, twice for special moves) and then Punch/Kick. Instead of pressing a button to block, you move backwards. The best strategy is to hit them indirectly once they make an offense. M. Bison is also cheap as hell.
Ahaha love those charts ! The only advice I can give you is learn the moves and combos in practise mode and then get your ass kicked online and try to improve. That's the only way...
