  2. 1996 seems awful early for Street Fighter III... I wonder if they mean Street Fighter Zero III, or even the first Street Fighter Zero/Alpha (coming after Street Fighter II, it could be misinterpreted as the third installment in the series, especially if there had been no official announcement of the name... Just speculation, but like I said, the date seems a few years too early.

Oh my! This would've been way cool :D
I do remember someone posting a list of unreleased Saturn games and (from memory) it contained at least one CPS3 game, being Red Earth/War Zard. However, 1996 was the release year of SF Zero 2 for Saturn if I'm not mistaken, so it does seem a bit early.

I thought I remember someone posting about work starting on Street Fighter III, but it never got past R&D (?) stages.

I remember reading in various magazines that street fighter 3 was planned for 64dd but was scrapped due to the add on being canceled.

A 2D arcade game ported to the '64??? That would certainly be unique (and blurry) :p

I dont see how that would happen since the 64 was the worse system ever for 2d games.

The 64dd wasn't canceled, it was just not released outside Japan (Tahts probably what you meant to say though).

well I knew it was released, but im saying in general really(as in U.S. and Europe and support when it came out), but a port was definetly in the works, would of been intresting to see how well the 64 could handle a cps3 game.

It would certainly be interesting to see how it would turn out, I mean, the N64 *could* just shift pixels with the glaucoma-inducing blur turned off (but then, maybe the R4300 would have to be used for blitting).

you know its funny, but if you play 64 on a digital or hd tv it seems to look fuzzyer and blurrier then it usually is, is this a resoloution thing with the system?

  13. Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that it seems to be only the 3D games on the N64 that are blurry? Mischief Makers/Yuke Yuke Troublemakers, for example, always seemed fairly crisp to me.

    It's just you man. N64 = Blurrsville

It might be better if you could get RGB from it, but you know Nintendo...

I thought Killer Instinct Gold turned out fine.
Even better than the arcade version (Killer Instinct 2) on which it was based.

While there is absolutely no way now of checking this, I'm fairly sure that the alleged Saturn footage of Street Fighter III on that site was from the same source (camera pointed at early arcade version) as the screenshots once printed in a UK magazine. Sorry I can't be more accurate with the details, but when I moved house two years ago I only brought my SSM collection with me so I'm not able to check which publication it was that featured those images, though I'm fairly sure that it was either Sega Power or Mean Machines Sega...

As for the existence of a Saturn conversion, I remember being told back in 1998 that the game was in very early R&D stages and Capcom was considering it as their next release after Street Fighter Alpha 3. As mentioned before, this one was being linked to the Saturn as far back as '96, but above all others it would have been THE showcase for the Saturn's 4Mb RAM upgrade cartridge, and would almost certainly have not appeared on any rival platform - remember when the same happened with the "VS" titles in a scaled down form on the PlayStation? Who really bought those, apart from collectors?

P.S. Red Earth was definitely another CPSIII game being considered for the Saturn, but I have virtually no information regarding this one apart from the fact that it was bound for Sega's 2D powerhouse (with a little help from the 4Mb cart, of course)! While complete speculation, it's also been suggested in the past that Marvel VS Capcom was intended as the company's proper last Saturn title and not Final Fight Revenge - how amazing would that have been, especially after the complaints about the Dreamcast version suffering from its host pad's smaller number of face buttons?

Perhaps it is not a coincidence that Capcom decided to use the SH2 as CPU for the CPS3?
