Hi 1st thanks all Reading my post.. dug out an old Streets of Rage Board Weird on the title Screen it has an message in Japanese any idea's?
Same thing was found on a pirate multicart: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/sega-mega-drive-cart-with-multiple-games.61718
i thought it was pirate, i remember that post. the japanese translates into some crazy gibberish on my side
If you take a Streets of Rage cart and pop it into a Japanese Mega Drive or a Mega Drive/Genesis set to Japanese language mode, it plays Bare Knuckle instead of SoR. Same goes for a Bare Knuckle cart in a MD/Genesis set to English language mode, after you make it fit that is. Many MD/Genesis carts have both the Japanese and English versions onboard. Some differences are not noticeable (such as Sonic 1), some display only minor differences (such as Sonic 2 referring to "Tails" as "Miles" in the options menu), and others have huge differences such as Streets of Rage (Japanese text with a different title screen). Games that do not support this will throw up a region error screen (Virtua Racing Deluxe for 32X is the only game I have that does this). With that being said, I'm pretty sure that text on the bottom isn't there normally. Reading through that thread Xzx123 linked also makes me agree that it is a pirate cart. Btw, Dig knows a thing or two about Japanese import gaming. He also happens to own some pretty rare imports such as a CIB Korean Sonic 2.
lol thanks to everyone who has replied constructively to my post, just to answer a couple of things it does display the sega logo. I was hoping to get the Japanese translated which would translate to SAMPLE VERSION WORKING PROGRESS but oh well looks like it maybe some sort of pirate after all weird as it is on an eprom board hardly worth the effort for a pirate, some of the sprites also look a little messed up with big hairdos anyway here is a pic of the cart, probably stick it up on ebay as the board is something different. consider post closed, keep collecting
