Strugging to get recent English Translation of Policenauts to work with Rhea

My Rhea's 64gb SD card has every Saturn game I class as atleast decent. Even translations of all 3 shining games. So I'm really not a noob at this stuff. I'm really struggling to get the policenauts recent ENG translation to work on the rhea. I have downloaded the native jap game ISO and have tried patching it myself as instructed in the read me. Converting it to bin/cue and following the steps etc.. then loading it up (as I've done with loads of rips on the past) using alcohol loading to virtual drive and then ripping with disc juggler to cdi format. With the usual stuff selected, scan gaps, raw, pq, r-w (cd+g) etc.. but the cdi image doesn't read on the rhea. The menu even said not a Saturn disc. I have also taken a pre patched image from the net and just converted it in the same manner as said above still to no avail. Which is strange as for a lot of my games I've loaded on the sd card currently in my rhea I have done the exact same method and it's worked perfectly.

So my question is has anyone successfully managed to get the recent policenauts eng translation working on their rhea in cdi format?

And if so is there any way it could get uploaded somewhere on the net as I'm pulling out my hair here.

Any replys would be appreciated.

 

You could test the iso you made via a PC emulator or burn it to a disk and test on a console with a mod chip or a Pseudo cart. That way you know the iso is definitely screwed up if it doesn't work on either. Also, could be quite possible that Rhea/Firmware doesn't like that particular modded title.

I own both a Rhea and a Phoebe and will take a look at this when I get some time.

 

This probably doesn't help your case but I am currently playing Policenauts via Psuedo Saturn Kai right now. I have been meaning to test my ISOs with various emulators to see how they hold up.

Update: I was able to get my ISOs working in Yabause. I've had a weird problem where Yabause sometimes just doesn't run any game and I get a black screen, but usually a reboot fixes it for me. But both my Japanese and English patched ISO of Policenauts played in Yabause.

 

I don't have much help to offer but I'm in the same boat. I've had a rhea for several months and have gotten most/all the games I own to work on it (including the Shining Force III translations.)

I've been unable to get Policenauts to load or even show up in the front end. I have downloaded a couple of different versions and even bought a japanese copy off ebay (I have a japanese saturn.) I don't mind playing it on emulator if I have to, but I'd really prefer to get it loaded on Rhea. I've given up trying to load the patched english copy, at this point I can't even get the japanese version to load. Frustrating, hopefully someone will confirm it works or how they got it to work.

I'll try to get around to posting my CRC32/SHA256/MD5/etc. or what have you of my ISOs, so you can validate that you have the same files. I believe everyone should have the same - unless the patcher does something weird with timestamps.

 

I got it working on mine. I noticed IsoBuster wasn't ripping the data properly most of the time. It might have just been my desktop setup but I ended up re-dumping the data until the md5 and SHA-1 matched the ones in the patching tutorial. Then everything worked perfectly.

 

Thanks for confirming, guys! I actually got the first disc loaded on my rhea, now to recreate the second and third and finally get to play this gem.

 

Would love to have a copy of that card!

 

I converted my copy to cdi using discjuggler, it is working.

All discs boot on all my Saturn's with Rhea, Pheobe and disc version.

 

I just play in RGB using a real Saturn
