I just bought a Super Everdrive and two copies of Ballz 3D. Removing the DSP-1B was easy, because I had a heat-gun. Installing it was even more easy, the only tricky part was the oscillator, where I had to trace the connections, to make sure it was installed the right way (I know some says it does not matter). Anyway, I still have one working copy of Ballz 3D. Which I will give away to someone that needs it. I can even open the case, and desoder the components. I am located in Denmark, and it is the Japanese version Ballz 3D, which has the same case size as the European. Therefore it make sense to send it to someone in Europe. The first European which post a picture of a their hungry (no DSP installed) Super Everdrive, wins.
LOL a great idea! Heat guns really are the best - also welcome aboard! :topsy_turvy: Also... LOL Ballz 3D!
I used Mario Kart, I had 3 of them and one didn't work no matter what I did, always a blank screen. I took out the chips and installed it, it worked in my ED running Super Mario Kart rom.
Maybe everyone who uses this forum, and have a Super Everdrive, have already installed the DSP... I used Ballz 3D! because someone said that it was a crap game which had all the components. Both turned out to be true . It is also the only game where your are 100% sure it has a DSP-1B revision.
I decided to remove the DSP from the other copy of Ballz 3D I had. I noticed that the clock generator was attached opposite. So it really does not matter which way you connect it. I also attached IC holders where the DSP and 74HCU04 was. So I could test them after I removed them. So I now have one kit of DSP-1B + 74HCU04 + JAP/EU case, ready the ship to the first who claims the prize.
I made a video where I flip the clock generator without any problems:
That is very unfortunate. Since there was no interest in this for almost 2 month. I bought another Super Everdrive, which I will use the DPS for.
