like the price check thread, only for the rarity of items if in doubt.

I guess the only reason why people barely use the Price-Check is because it is such a circumstantial process. And most of the posted items won't even receive an answer for some reason...

I am also active in a forum which has an own 'price check' area where everybody is allowed to post a topic on each item in its specific country norm and the users are asked to discuss the current value according to deals/ebay/yahoo and so on. I guess with this amount of collectors and hardware geeks here it would be a very fruitful and thriving area.

The main reason the price check thread doesn't see much use: the only people who bother with the whole message-a-moderator scheme have items that cannot accurately be valued. I'm not knocking the system, it's the only way to prevent "price check" sales threads, but it doesn't seem to work.

Yes, it's flawed. It sucks because if someone says "I have so and so"
then people will pounce like greedy vultures and wither rip them off, get ripped off, or cause a huge desperate wave of "I want it" posts.
