Okay, here's my Idea: I want to make a giant monster fighting game, like Godzilla online or War of the monsters, but good. Why? Becasue giant monsters kick ass. But, I want it two important things to be implimented: 1) There must be some on-line capability to some extent 2) You must be able to customize your monster So, I'm thinking of using Blender to create the engine and graphics, mainly becasue Blender is free with a large community and anyone who wants to customise thier monster could easily download it and get help. So it's not the most powerful graphics engine out there. Who cares. My main thing is that it would save a lot of time to just create skeletons and skins and animate the characters that way as opposed to drawing ten thousand sprites. Plus to customise you'd have to draw your own sprites too, which is just too time consuming. Making a skin is much easier for the average user. The game would essentially be a fighting game, with city and alien world locales, as well as innocent people and armies getting stomped on (tanks, clowns, coffee shops, police cars, etc.) The other side would be a screen where you create your own monster skin, and then assign basic moves to it, like Fighter Maker. This is going to be a long term project, as I'm no master at Blender myself. But I'm thinking if I work on it an hour a day I could have a rough playable outline ready by the end of the year. What I'm shooting for is maybe a few levels with three or four pre-made monsters and the monster creation feature for the demo. Online play can be implimented later. So, since this project is still in the concept stages if anyone has any suggestions please give'em out. I'll post some of my concept drawings this weekend.
Any building or object in the game MUST be destructable. That would be my only suggestion so far, and it's probably an obvious one.
Always wanted to see a beat em up based on GUYVER (bio booster armour guyver). Just think, you start the game off as your standard character, stick to basic fighting style, martial arts etc, after building up a small energy bar (lets call it the booster bar), you have the option to either biomorph into a Guyver or on the many Zoanoids/ Hyper Zoanoids/Beast masters and so on....... I guess the closest to this concept was the beatarizor (sp)/bloody roar games, but a GUYVER one would be great, from a fanboys point of view anyway. But if your having a monsters beat em up: destruction - LOTS OF - Buildings, cars, people, clowns and religious people who knock on your door (OK so maybe not that one). Army - must have sonic based weapons (godzilla/king of the monsters etc) - Planes, and you gotta have a stage set on an army base where you can take missles and launch them at your opotant with your bare hands. Not really offering anything new here, but Im sure you can come up with a great concept.
War of the Monsters? Are you guys thinking of King of the Monsters on Neo Geo? That game is insanely fun.
War of the monsters was a rather fun (but jagged - PS2's lack of hardware AA was never more painful) multiplayer beat-em-up released for the PS2 about two years back.
Make an Evangelion fighting game similair to Godzilla destroy all monsters melee. I guess you could make a "make your own Angel/Evangelion" feature in it, too. Actually, I don't know if Evangelion would be a good mech game or just a fighting type game...
Just buy the N64 game if you want that. No custom build features though.....but you really dont need them.
Its a fighter? I thought it was actiony, but not quite what type of action. Besides, I don't even think the N64 version was released in America.
It wasnt. Thats why you import it Or score it for second hand cheap locally! And its not all fighting....for obvious Angel fights that do not fit easily into a fightign style (Both of you dance liek you want to win, Dont make others suffer for your personal hatred, etc...) have seperate gameplay. Most of the missions, however, are fighting. Though it plays different to any other fightign game I've ever used (and once you get used to it, its absolutley great! I hated it at first...but thats because I was palying it wrong ) Sorry for all the OT-ness Hawanja. My only suggestion for your game is a custom mapping option for it....and the ability to import there own enviroment models for it. Dunno if anyone else cares about that....but I'd much rather make a really cool smashable city rather than a monster with mvoes from a generic pre-determined list.
Great suggestions guys, keep'em comming. The thing is I wanted at first to make a game with famous monsters in it (Godzilla, Ultraman, etc.) But that would obviously violate copyright laws all over the place. But if you have the custumization feature that gives the user the ability to make their own versions of said famous monsters. So, you could have people with thier unofficial versions of Godzilla or Hedorah or whatever and you could download them from fansites, not *technically* affiliated with the game. And since it's a fan creation copyright law means shit. So I'm thinking I the pre-made monsters will be sort of basic templates that people could customize, like the giant dinosaur type (godzilla,) the Japanese superhero type (ultraman,) the blob type (hedorah,) the dragon type (ghidorah) and so on. And of course you could download Blender to make your own unqiue monster. I'll post some concept artwork on Saturday on the ideas for the pre-made monsters. BTW Rampage kicked ass. It's all about Larry the Labrat.
The godzilla creatures should be skyscrapers vs skyscrapers in combat, with extra destructible skyscraper scenery They could spit human bullets etc. and fire out the contents of their car parks as grenades/bombs.
