I am trying to find a way to capture the video signal from my dreamcast devbox (s-video) so that i won't need an extra monitor. My computer is a laptop, so the only solutions available are through express card, firewire or usb. Has anyone of you guys found an affordable solution for his gaming needs that features acceptable image quality and real time capture with no frame dropping? The best seems to be canopus advc-55, but it is a bit pricey. i look forward to hear what you think.
It depends on what you mean is acceptable but I scored a $15 usb video capture device which works just fine for my need. I have a few sample videos up on youtube such as these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4quEHgDPwo&fmt=18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6oQR2N1Ce4&fmt=18 The device is the same as this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Video-Audio-TV-...oryZ3761QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
thanks for the info i am also looking for an application that can display the captured video stream in the form of a very simple window on my desktop, so i can just view my code without fuss. have you found anything like that?
Spend a bit more and get something decent. Pinnacle, Avermedia and Hauppauge all do decent capture hardware. They usually include tuners as well. I've also tried KWorld before, but their bundled drivers/software is very poor.
