So apparently the constant pestering of Konami has worked and finally we will see Suikoden 2 released as a PSOne Classic on PSN. Apparently in the US only, for now. It will be PS3 and PSVita compatible (not sure why PSP is not covered by this). http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/12/06/suikoden-ii-coming-to-psn/ Tuesday 9th December release incoming! \o/
I've been wondering about that, is it that the PSP isn't compatible, or they're not mentioning it in the press release. For example, Vib Ribbon was just released on PSN, and it says I can buy it on my PSP, but they never mentioned the system for it. Also, I just got the physical CD release, and now they finally rerelease it!
It works fine on PSP, I've had it on mine for a few years now. Unless this release is enhanced somehow, though it wouldn't really be a PSOne classic if it was, would it? From the page linked above:
But...it was just released. I know the PSP can emulate the PS1 fine, but we were talking about it getting released on it.
If it's not enhanced, then what's the diff? It's a digital only release, collectors aren't going to get anything new other than an official XMB background. I actually originally only got a PSP to play PS1 games, Popstation GUI makes it so simple to convert your own PS! images, I'm just a little surprised that anyone desperate to play this game wouldn't have figured this out already. I suspect the release is aimed more at the PSTV, which if it survives will probably spend more time emulating PS1 games than anything else.
And PS3. I know the PS3 plays PS1 games just fine, but the cheapest copies usually run over $100, so $6 is a steal. Of course Sony can't figure out PS1 emulation on the PS4, not until they can get people to pay to rent them.
I taught the inability of ps4 to play ps1 was the lack of a normal cd laser, hence it cannot play any cd based music too. I think it might be possible to make the bluray laser read normal cds, but I'm just a mec-eng so...
Does anyone here have a perfect save file for the original Suikoden? I would love to transfer a pefect save file on Suikoden 2. Was never much of a fan the original, but Suikoden 2 to me is one of the best RPG i have ever played.
