Can anyone recommend a decent lightgun for the ps2 that can be used on a lcd tv? or even have 1 for sale/trade? i just bought a pair of Namco G-con 2's this weekend thinking they may work as they have the usb connection, but alas the dont work with my 37" screen (work fine on my 32" crt though, just dont think the wife will appreciate me using a lightgun in bed) and am itching to play time crisis and point blank! slighly off topic, but ill post in the marketplace anyways, i now have 2 spare boxed g-con 2s and a gcon 1 up for sale if anyones interested! any suggestions on a good gun? not fussed if it has recoil etc, just as long as it has decent accuracy
That's the only one I could find http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=200114954408&rd=1&rd=1 I don't know if it works well but I can see positive feedback.
Here's another one that I've been thinking about - http://erealgames.com/ecommerce/os/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=28&osCsid=1aa770ae311b8ab8982f343f149b86c0 I much prefer the looks of the one previously mentioned, along with the fact that I believe it supports kickback - however, I saw it on play-asia.com & I'm concerned that US customs may not like me importing something that looks fairly real. I've been trying to decide between ponying up for the one from erealgames & living with the dayglow-ness of it, or trying to find a US based seller of the other one.
thanks for the advice guys, think im going to go for the topgun, playasia have it quite cheap (under £20 + shipping) so next time i order from them ill probably pick one up, i like the fact that you can also use it for the xbox and pc, so ill be putting mame on my laptop now! (or hopefull it will work using mame on the xbox)
I threw a TopGun into my arcade machine for use with a PS2 and Xbox. It's not bad and pretty accurate. The only problem that I have is that it is a pain to calibrate and use because you absolutely MUST use it at a distance. The camera on the gun itself must be able to see all of the sensors, but it doesn't have much of a "visual" field. You'll have to make sure that you have enough room to actually play with. For example, my arcade machine has a 27" monitor. You can see the LCD strands to the left and right of my monitor (picture here). To calibrate and use the TopGun, I have to stand about 5-6 feet away from the screen. It is usable, but I would prefer to stand right in front of the monitor. Basically, make sure you have the extra space to shoot from before you buy it.
