I opened my super famicom to clean it. I detached the controller port and noticed that the ribbon cable had cut traces. I assembled everything back together, but the controller stopped working.
Where can I find a replacement ribbon cable? Otherwise is there any sort of wiring mod I can perform?

If it's a small break in the ribbon and the pin width is wide enough, I'll usually just expose some of the metal on each side of the break and bridge it with solder. Not the best solution, but it is easy and works if you're not too rough with the cable post repair.

As for other wiring mod options...yes, you can just take small gauge wire and solder to the ribbon socket points on each end. However, then you have (semi)permanently attached the controller board to the motherboard...unless you come up with some alternate connector.

And if you find a ribbon with the same pin size but too many pins, don't be afraid to cut it down to size. I save otherwise useless wide ribbon cables with this in mind.

Darn!!! I threw away some broken printers two weeks ago,but didn't keep any cables.
I sourced though an ebay seller that may have a ribbon cable. I'll also try source this cable in local electronic repair shops.
