Nice review but I can say even if you could use a US snes ac adapter it would not fry your system,it would work just fine. What would fry the system is if you used a nes ac adapter.

9vac vs 9vdc. One letter, huge difference.

The real killer is that the NES easily accepts 9vdc without trouble. Why Nintendo bothered with AC beats me. As a result I'm sure plenty of consoles (SegaCDs included) have been ruthlessly murdered by the NES' AC adapter.

You never know, maybe that was the plan all along!

It is likely the reason they chose AC is that it allows for a much simpler adapter (just a transformer, no diodes or regulators or anything)

Do you know what the power adaptor details are for the sfc?

I have one but never managed to get it powered up since I have no idea what to be using

Thanks. It looks like a complete console is cheaper than buying the adaptor by itself on eBay. Maybe Ill just get a mega drive 1.

You dont need to buy a megadrive PSU.

You just need a PSU that is 10v 850mah or so.

Are you sure about that? I've read a few places never to plug the pal psu into the sfc

Also I managed to get a 9v DC 800mah power plug. Only getting a black screen on FF6. Maybe I need a 10v?

Well after doing so more reading the Pal psu does indeed use AC and the Super Fami uses DC,it will power it up and work but it could fry the system so with that I retract with what I said.

As for the psu you found I think you need it 850mah.

Specs on Famicom power adapter: Ac100v 50/60hz 18va
    Dc10v 850ma

If you want buy a super famicom power adapter the model number is "Model Hvc-002"
But a famicom power adapter also works.
