I"m about to get some game pads for my super famicom and I was wondering if I can use them on my european snes. Searching on google I found some baffling results. Others say they work, others not. BTW my super famicom is the first revision, the one with the add-on sound chip, if it has any significance.
Worst case you need to bridge a few diodes. http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/using-import-joypads-on-the-pal-snes/ If you console is a 1chip console, then it will work without a mod.
Nice I think my pal snes is 1chip. Can't understand the logic though for the price difference. For the price I paid, I got two pads, while at the same time I need more just for one european!
really? Do you have any info /pics/diagram about that? I knew about the bridge soldering trick on the console's controller port but anything about resistors on pads.
Yep, I wrote the original version of this page years ago, hopefully all the information is still there, I'll read through it later. http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=controls:snes_con_region_fix
