Wikipedia (yeah, yeah, yeah...) states: "Although there are unsubstantiated rumors that it was released in the United States through mail-order, Nintendo states otherwise[citation needed]." Is there any evidence that the SGB2 saw an NTSC-U form? I assume it is just hearsay.
Your average idiot repeating what he heard on the playground and found out he can edit Wikipedia is my guess. Though by "mail-order" you can interpret that to mean "some dude shipped it from Japan".
Never happened. By the time super game boy 2 came out interest in regular gameboy was already over. Plus super gameboy sold okay from what I remember in the U.S. so I would imagine it wouldn't be a great idea to release it in the U.S.
Too little too late. super game boy 2 didn't add enough to bother. beside SNES was dead in the west before they could've capitalized on the pokemon craze with it.
Super Gameboy 2 just didn't add enough. If it had instead been able to play Gameboy Color games, it would have had a purpose. Many people still had their SNES systems around when the GBC was released and might have bought it. But since it was last generation Nintendo wouldn't have invested in it. I think SNES got somewhat better support later in life in Japan where in the US it was pretty poor.
