It's a backup unit for Sega Genesis/Megadrive. I think at most it could have 16Mbits of ram, more likely just 8Mbits. It's not worth the price at all.

For whatever reason SNES backup units like Game Doctor are very affordable and nice. Yet Genesis backup units seem to be alot harder to find, and more expensive. The Genesis Flash cartridges seem like the better options.

It's a backup device which is a cleaner way of saying it's a device that allows you to copy video game cartridges/ROMs as well as more importantly load ROMs you've saved or downloaded and play them on your console.

Just like calling your stacks of CD-Rs "backups" opposed to pirate/illegal copies. ;)

Do Super Magic Drives really sell for 89 pounds though? I wouldn't mind selling mine for that kind of cash.

No, that Super Magic Drive he pointed out has been on ebay for ages. Look at the tototek flash cartridge or megacart, and compare capability, and you'll see how outragous 89 pounds is for some 8mbit or "maybe" 16mbit md copier.

The price is very high even though it's rare. I wouldn't give more than $50.
