Hi all! I got a hold of this snazzy cartridge a while ago, but because it used an obscure mapper, didn't get around to properly dumping it until now. I've put up a page containing information on it, including tons of screen shots, and technical information. I also made a hack which makes the game use the MBC1 mapper instead of it's pirate one, of which a patch is available for download there. http://www.bripro.com/low/obscure/index.php?page=hko_sm3s BTW, if anyone has that Super Mario World pirate for Famicom (http://www.bripro.com/low/obscure/index.php?page=hko_smw), I'd really like to get of hold of the real cartridge. Message me if you have, or know where to get it. Enjoy!
Dude, that article is Awesome with a capital A. I didn't know there were this type of awesome/horrific pirates for the GBC. I remember playing this type of horrible Hong Kong original on my NES back in the day (I used to have that Mario 4 that was Armadillo with a Mario 3 sprite), and just looking at the... um... thing these pirates made makes me have fond memories of frustration/fun and of my first trips to the black market with my dad. Thanks for the link. It's moderately more likely for me to find pirates in Mexico than most folks in the first world. If I see something that might be of interest to you, I'll PM you.
Hi, Brian! I didn't know you lived in Vancouver! (North Van. is my hometown). Anyway, all the stuff on your site is very fun to read. The GameKing reminds me of the SuperVision but even worse. Anyway, I have that GB Super Mario 3 pirate on a multicart too. I believe it crashed on me after I beat the final (accessible) level. Piece of crap!
Great stuff man. Actualy I found it rather funny that pirates are trying to make it difficult for you to pirate/hack their pirated game.
well I think that has to do with the fact that they don't want other pirates to pirate theire games and release them on multicart. of course that's kinda ironic
Here here. I got your PM a while ago and have been thinking about it, you know I just really can't bear to sell my copy of Super Mario World for Famicom. However, if you want to fly to Sacramento, CA with the tools necessary to dump it I'll be happy to meet up with you! Sounds crazy but I can't sell it. And to address your query of where to get one - I found my copy on eBay back in 2002. Honestly let me know if you're ever in the Sacto area! ~Krelian
Thanks for the thanks everyone Chris: yeah, I'm from Vancouver alright! When you come back from Japan we should meet up sometime. Divine: I totally understand, I wouldn't want to part with the SMW for FC either! It's already been dumped, but I'd love to have a copy for my collection some day. I'm sure I'll find one too, it's all good!
Wassup Brian! Glad to see that you've found Assembler, welcome to the show. Everybody let me introduce Mr. Brian Provinciano, he's a technical genius and turned me onto the Gameking. May we all do our best to make him feel at home.
You'll probably be interested in seeing what just got dumped. I doubt this complete version is the unhacked original since it starts by kicking you to that warp, but at least it's finally the whole game. It's great to also see more in depth information and a dump of the Mario 3 pirate after all these years. Thanks.
