Anyone else really looking forward to this? I can't wait. The first really exciting release of the year for me.

I doubt any Wii owner wouldn't be excited. Good thing we don't have to wait much longer. Luigi is back which was always my favorite character, I like green.

I won't lie. I didn't like Mario Galaxy (due to bad camera) and despized Sunshine (due to bad gameplay choices, huge fanboy over mario 64 still) but Galaxy 2 has me wanting to run out and rebuy a Wii to play it. It looks like it's just full of pure awesomeness.

The thing is, they make Luigi into more of a babbling camp brother of Mario with every new release he features in. It makes me mad :dammit:

I felt the same about the first Mario Galaxy, and felt let down and betrayed by how formulaic the game actually was. The Wiimote controls and laughable "2 player mode" (which ended up being player 2 points a cursor at stars) were an absolute nightmare.

Don't get me wrong, I will still buy this, but fear it will end up like the last one, and my mrs takes over and finishes it, with me having to sit there watching her play so I can do the difficult jumps for her.

I thought Mario Galaxy was the perfect game; the controls, graphics, music, everything was just perfect to me! Played through it twice and I NEVER play through a game twice

Never played Galaxy... I should get Galaxy 2 though, so my Wii is not an Illvelo + Oboromuramasa machine.

Try walking Mario over/around the edge of a cube (or any other sharpish curve in 3D) and see if you still think the controls are perfect :banghead:

Even so, I still preordered Galaxy 2 months ago. I'm hoping for more climbing and exploring, and less shooting yourself through space this time.

The developers never promised an outright two-player mode. We all knew from the beginning that it would be only "drop-in/drop-out second player gets to collect stars, derp" from the beginning from the previews and interviews before the game was released.

EDIT: The "2-player" feature was intended more as a bonus anyhow.

It's only a bonus in the same way herpes is a bonus after you nailed that hot chick from school.

actually with some ehr..green tea and a friend it's quite fun to play 2 player like this. That's how I went through most of the first game.

This game is out now and is pretty close to perfect. One of the reviews said that they simply can't think of another Mario game to follow this, since its such a combination of all the games that came before it. The first bowser battle alone is worth the price of admission.

    Anyone else get it?

I would trust a reviewer as far as I could drop him off a cliff.

I got the game and I finished it too. I m halfway through completing all 241 stars though.

    The game is indeed amazing.

It lacks the epicness factor due to the way it has been set up. The overworld map is somewhat linear, reminiscent of New Super Marios Bros (DS and Wii). Gone is the Castle/Spaceship hub, not a bad thing considering you can get to business a lot quicker.

The story is largely disconnected from the previous one. As mentioned earlier it feels more like a stand-alone "expansion" or "mario pak" but it plays like a champ.

I d have a couple of nitpicking complaints though!

The controls are a tiny bit loose for my liking. This means that sudden jerks of movement and finely detailed stick touches won't do as much as I'd like. I guess this is ok considering a) how the stick differs from a N64 stick technologically b) the game has to be accessible to butterfingered people.

The other complaint is that a lot of the puzzles are camera-handicapped. That means they are made hard by the fact that you have limited or no control on the camera.

I don't mind this most of the time but I saw some "invisiwalls" as well. I think these two characteristics stray far from the n64's original formula of "go anywhere, approach task as you see fit".

The levels have a more linear "A-B" feeling to them compared to previous titles but as I said they're a blast. It's like concentrated Mario juice in a disc without all the fats and some of the taste that went with it.

Overall I d certainly reccomend this to the Mario fan or the gamer who likes to be challenged and frustrated even sometimes. It really is the only rival to Mario Galaxy and a worthy expansion. It complements the first game perfectly!!!

    SPOILER:::

Also I think I should mention that they remade THE ENTIRE SECOND LEVEL FROM N64!!!! I almost cried:D
