I thought it'd be interesting to share this link with everyone. Someone in Japan, I think the same guy who made that youtube clip, started playing the whole game through and is gradually noting his progress. Here's the list of all done so far. http://www.nicovideo.jp/search/スーパーマリオワールド64 One idiot on youtube, who i can't respond to cuz youtube suddenly seems to be against me showing how wrong he is ( ) seems to think this game isn't possible, so hopefully these videos will make it become more known to pirate fanatics, as it's not been discussed much in the past. My one question is is this using a rom, becuae you'll notice that his videos sometimes are a week apart, which means he must go back to the game occasionally. I can't imagine actually going through the levels over and over considering how hard it is, so I wonder if he's using states with an emu. I can't tell though
the game is tough! I can't get too far in it - but damn it's fun. it's memory based platform gaming of yore. edit: can't see the vids.
NicoNico Douga is available in Japanese, Spanish, German, and Chinese (TW). So.. if you know any of those languages, it's much easier to navigate. I'm not fluent in Spanish, but even I can get by NND via the Spanish way. :3
Interesting stuff, but why is it that pretty much every single pirate game like this sucks? I mean out of the tons of pirates that exist, why is it that every single one sucks? Atleast every NES, SNES, or Genesis pirate creation I've seen sucks. Well there was that one cool MegaDrive pirate that was a Beat Em Up like Knights of the Round that actually seemed decent.
have to agree with MottZilla, most of these pirates are crap. Ok porting them to rival systems is a bit of a novelty, but not much more.
The thing is it's not even porting them, it's stealing the graphics and level design and recreating it poorly on Genesis. If the games were literally ported they would probably be awesome. shui hu feng yun zhuan was the name of the beat em up I was talking about.
you know what i meant :katamari: lol but thats the nature of the pirate's all they do is plunder :110:
That is a VERY good game. So good I'd say it was the best hack'n slash figter on the Mega Drive. The only thing that lets it down is the poor animation at times. Apart from that it's very good. I own 2 carts of that but one gives a blank screen Also have the cover  Will have to add it to my site one day along with the other pirate stuff./ Yakumo PS: just for the record, the Mega Drive version of Super Mario 64 is crap. Looks good on video however mario's running speed is not fixed meaning at times he'll seem fine while at others it's as if he's draging an iron ball around with him.
There are some pirates that are pretty damn cool, and not because they are say, NES adaptations of a 16-bit game. Somari is kind of a classic IMO. The Famicom and SMS version of Street Fighter 2 really aren't that bad, and the control is pretty decent for both. I do agree though that most are pretty god awful, like Contra 7, that crappy Double Dragon for famicom (looks like a cross between Renegade for NES and Double Dragon), and pretty much 90+% of all repeats on a multicart.
Aladdin which was based on the snes version of the game is truly amazing imho. Somari was ok, i ended up finishing the game. Super Donkey Kong 2 has got to be the worst i've come across, from memory 2 or so levels made it into the game >.< One version of Street Fighter 2 was good, it only had four players. The others with more characters were really crappy. Same goes for all the 'Mortal Kombat' games on NES.
