I searched on the forum for it, but I didn't find any posts about it. What about the SMW rom for the NES (or Famicom, I'm not sure of which it was) that appears everywhere on the web? I think it was an unreleased hack, but I'm really not sure of it (It looks really extense to be just a hack). Anyone knows if Nintendo had any intention to release SMW for the NES?
No, what I'm talking about is a rom I saw on the web (and I have on my computer) of SMW for the NES. It looks like it was in a very early stage of development, but the game is complete (The gameplay, sound and graphics need a lot of work). Look around on google and you'll get a lot of results.
Looks to me like it was most likely a pirate. GoodNES name: Super Mario World (Unl). I'm guessing this is the same one?:
It's exatcly that. If it is a pirate rom, this guys made a great job. I'm saying, have you ever seen that pirated Sonic The Hedgehog for the NES? :banghead: horrible.
Yeah, if you think that Sonic the Hedgehog is horrible, try those Super Donkey Kong unlicensed games for the NES. xD
There's a great site on it here if you want http://www.bripro.com/low/obscure/index.php?page=hko_smw#unfinished
I found it (I have GoodNES on 5 cd's for my PSX). Damn, that was horrible. If I had to make something like that, I choose not to do anything...
Also, albeit we already know it's a HK pirate, here's irrefutable proof that this "SMW" game is not a NES prototype that was later ported and continued on the SNES. http://disgruntleddesigner.com/chrisc/secrets11.html scroll down after the image index and you'll be greeted of two REAL SMW proto/alpha/beta screens of Super Mario World showing an intro screen and world map quite different than the final ones, unlike those on that rom, wich are a rip of the original.
No, no, nobody was claiming it was. The thread starter was asking whether it was or not, and it was agreed it was not (well, nothing new, right?), I just read the post and wanted to put that information for, you know, even if it wasn't known for it to be a HK pirate, it would not be possible to be a proto, because it's origin in SNES was different. It's a matter of timeline. It the project had started as a NES prototype (wich is not the case, at least from the proof we have) it wouldn't have the look of the final SNES version, because there is proof of early SNES material that was pretty much different.
would someone be so kind to send me a pm with a link to the hacked rom? been googling for more than a week now and wasn't able to find it...would be greatly appreciated!
"Goodnames" are Super Mario World (Unl).nes Super Mario World (Unl) [a1].nes (it's an alternate) Super Mario World (Unl) [b1].nes (it's a bad dump) Hope this helps you find it
à have this pirate cart of SMW nes, great game they did an amazing job porting this game! It does not have as many levels but all the worlds are there only with fewer levels. There is also a Snes Aladdin nes port floating around, amazing conversion also!
Simon_Belmont: Why don't you stop bumping old topics just to say "Oh I've got it" oh "oh well i got this unreleased game but only played it for a few minutes and it sucks". Seriously, you remind me of that playstation_museum moron who was on lostlevels that kept bumping old topics just for attention. Stop cluttering the board :banghead:
You don't have to read every topic around that is labeled with a "new reply/post". ;D Besides, I only really see two samples of such undesired thread necromancy that is totally non-contributive to the topic(s) that has been brought back from the grave. This is a message board, not a live chat.
