Nice but I don't really agree with the person dressed up playing the game. person needs to be more like nintendo's 90s adds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIpM_WHQPfw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55C_QxI1xts If you must though. Go more crossfire (I think the commercial was in the 80s though) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCwn1NTK-50
Never heard of Super Meat Boy, but yup, they got it right. EXTREEEEME and IN YOUR FACE slogans, crazy colors and fonts and bad CG. Nothing can be more 90s than that Nintendo ad, though.
Super Meat Boy is an awesome game, it's crazy addicting, and I highly recommend picking it up on October 20th. Hawk
Man... I had completely forgotten about those Pocket Arcade things. I'm pretty sure I had one, actually.
Someone should totally make a best-of DVD of 90s VG ads like this. Also, "PRESS the BUTTONS!!!" is something you probably won't hear again any time soon, what with all the Moves, Kinections and Wiimotes going on nowadays, not to mention the touchscreens... Another thing to add to the ever growing list of Things Your Kids May Never Know About.
I totally agree, I've been playing it for a few days now....it's a big trip down retro lane for me, lots of little in-jokes and nods to other games. Anyone who's been to my house while I've been playing it are getting it on launch day.
The main idea is still there in the US to some extent, it's just toned down. Was hard to adapt to American commercials when I moved back to the states in 2004.
No 90's thread is complete w/o this awesome nod to that wicked decade. http://www.trackitdown.net/genre/tech_house_minimal/track/2628448.html
That was an American thing and something that I REALLY hated. i also hated that face right up to the camera in a fish eyed look that always seemed to come from the states. Oh, how I hated that stuff.
If you want game commercials, check this site out: http://gameads.gamepressure.com/ I just want to say something about Super Meat Boy too: it's awesome, get it, especially when it's still 800 MS points.
Super Meat Boy is, indeed, very awesome. It keeps eviscerating me in the most humilliating ways possible, but I love it so much anyway...
Yeah, It's not Hardcore enough for you, I reckon. If the controller were made of razor blades, and it came on like 46 Blu-Ray discs and it ate your dog if you lost, and were not 2D, not 3D but at least 6 or 7D, then it might be close to Hardcore enough for you. Pfft.
