I was at a Metroid Forum earlier today and there is a discussion of differences between preview pictures of SM and the final, released product. I just wanted to see if anyone here knew of any form of a beta or prototype build of Super Metroid being in existence? thanks a million guys

Actually thats EXACTLY the thread i was talking about! lol. I figured id put up a post here to see if i could dig anything up. i didnt realize anyone from there posted here as well. edit: i just wanted to say good eye on catching those little differences. I own that issue of NP as well ( actually i have every issue of NP from feb 1992 through march 2000) and i never noticed that stuff. Just that screen of norfair with the wierd map layout makes me want to find a proto for SM.

I dont doubt that a proto exists, i just doubt that one exists outside of nintendo. who knows, maybe some magazine writer at the time has a proto SM cart from doing a magazine preview? like you said, we can hope and wish right?:icon_bigg I just wish i could see what kind of changes they made to the map layout more than anything.
Well yes. I meant that same exact thing. Or they couldve... *gulp* destroyed it! :crying: And I wonder if any other magazine reviewer besides NP got ahold of a proto cart? I think that would be the best, if only, chance. :thumbsup: And gah... I couldnt imagine playing it. I would love to see the changes to the map, to the items, to the animation.... ahh! :110: Stop getting me excited for nothing!
