So I got this arcade game of craigslist a few days ago for $80 dollars. I fixed a few things and everything works now. I don't like the game that much though. I found out a game called A.B. cop uses the same board. How would i go about getting this game to play on my cabinet. Do I just swap out the eproms with ones containing AB Cop? I really don't have a clue. http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=698 Thanks in advance
I've been after a SMGP for a while now. The CPU is encrypted (the big Hitachi block on the board), so you can't just change EPROMs, you need a 12mhz 68000 CPU, a set of decrypted EPROMs and the remaining non Encrypted EPROMs.
I found out its a suicide board. I think when it it eventually dies Ill swap out roms and get another cpu. Is there any way to get the key?
No need to get the key. You can get decrypted main program roms burned for the System X board/game from http://www.segaresurrection.com/#Which Depending on the way the rom area is managed (jumpers, soldered bridges) you should be able to get other games to run i'd say. Main point is getting the decrypted rom(s) burned for your game, then burning & adding the remainder from a MAME set that matches up. Usually there are a bunch of jumpers/bridges set to indicate rom size (256/512/1M) but i can't tell that from the small pcb pictures on system16.com Then, you'll need to get the rom jumper/wire settings for the game you want to run, and a normal 68000 cpu instead of the hitachi block. Note, there may be some PAL or GAL involved for protection, best to mail Chris at segaresurrection and ask his advice.
