I find it neat too, and find it in many cases useless for actual developers because of the quality of these products. To the unknowing person, owning one fulfills a fantasy because you can "make games" on this hardware. In reality these are very archaic tools that in terms of enginuity and skill are worthless. Computers have evolved so much since 1994 that development on these things seems like a joke. Today, they're ONLY good for collecting (in regards to the Cross/SN tools)

I see it also like collecting art, but I choose to only focus on art that still serves a purpose, like first party tools. Innovative/creative developers today can do a far better job at development hardware/software today than Cross ever did with this victorian crap. I'm not trying to discourage people from collecting what they're interested in but it might be wise to take a step back and think about what you're buying, if you're like me you'll end up with a lot of expensive shit that only depreciates in value and leaves you unsatisfied and only hungering for more. If you want to own expensive and rare stuff just to own it, there are systems that are probably a better fit for you (like a Navi HiSaturn for Saturn collectors) which will get proportionate praise from fellow collectors and appreciators.

It really shouldn't reach $1000, it's not the first time eBays ever seen one.

Not that I am rich but due to the nature of what I do , programming, If I do not spend a certain amount on development items the goverment gets it anyways. This way I can write it off over a few years and get to enjoy somethig instead of give it all to the goverment.

AS for showing.. I am trying to get a group of web pages together. I was able to get time last night to take pictures of the fairchild, intelivision, odessey 2 games. I need to dig out my old Odessey. It is a kick with the tape up screens and it is what started me in electronics back in the 70's I plan on getting some development items pictured tonight so hopefully over the weekend I can put together a few pages running off my server everyone can enjoy.

Haha, I guess that makes sense. Sorry if I came off as pushy.

I'm just jealous I suppose. I'm a full time student, so basically I make all of my money over the summer, and spend it throughout the rest of the year.

Been there and done that. Get a good education in and everything else will come with time. I spent 10 years in collage while working full time what a pain.

I'm starting to get depressed after watching people buy up entire collections worth of stuff within the last month!

Well it's nice that all of the high end collectors know each other now, it sure makes things a lot easier. Easier to find, buy or split.

One of my main worries is that if the forum gets too big we'll lose our international mix and the experienced members in a flood of noob.

amazingly I can't say I was ever outbidded by people who frequent forums that I do...but then I've given up on ebay and just buy direct from sellers on forums.

but I consider myself middle end collector, but hey what do I know?

The one thing I have to say Is that I really enjoy knowing everyone. Its a nice change compared to my other hobbby. Seems in game collecting more people are interested in sharing information and parts so we all can have fun compared to vintage slot cars were some of the collectors will stab you in the back when you are not looking to get what they want.

AS for ebay its a hit or miss. Typical corporation that wants a profit and does nto care about its customers but do to its size its one of the places thats helped me find parts I could not get anywheres else.
