Hi Guys, First time posting, but actively read these forums. I have performed a SuperCIC mod on a Super Famicom SNS-CPU-RGB-01, all works well however the picture is black and white at 50hz. Im gussing its a simlar issue that other systems with the frequency from the oscillator. Does anyone know how to correct the colour on a NTSC super nintendo via composite? i guess it would be adding a 4.433619 oscillator, but im not sure. here is a picture of the installation of the supercic http://postimg.org/image/s5vq06tbp/ EDITED BY MODERATOR: Fixed the link to the picture
Do RGB SCART or RGB JP-21 cables give the same issue? This problem happens on NTSC Mega Drives and Sega Genesis consoles but only affects RF, Composite video, and S-Video (if modded; I don't recommend this mod). RGB is unaffected as it isn't NTSC or PAL. Also, the picture isn't there anymore.
Well, it is possible to switch between true PAL and true NTSC composite video. As you mentioned, you need a ~4.43MHz crystal. Do following steps: - lift pin 3 of S-PPU2 - lift pin 9 of the S-RGB - use a similar circuit to that one here: https://sd2snes.de/files/1chip-5060.pdf with the ~4.43MHz crystal at the place of the ~17.734MHz crystal. You can get the ~3.58MHz from pin 3 of the S-PPU2 directly (do not need the NTSC-part with the HCU04) - put the clock output to the pad of the lifted pin 3 - connect pin 9 of the S-RGB as in the schematic This works also on other 2Chip-SNES... As a side note: in PAL-systems one can get the 4.43MHz clock form the S-CLK chip pin 5 if I remember it right.
Thanks for the info, looks very promising. will have some time on the weekend to try it out. also found some information from OMP, its for the orginal snes video encoder https://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?45696-Region-modifying-American-snes-colour-fix cheers again
Thanks but SCART was kinda rare in Australia. I have component modified american super nintendo with S-ENC video encoder, like RGB the component had no issues with 50/60hz colour. And i understand S-RGB encoder cannot be component modified.
They make cheaper SCART to Component/HDMI converters now. I have a SCART to HDMI converter that I bought for USD$60 and it works awesome! Supports a lot of stuff too.
