I recently bought the Super Retro Trio and took it apart, voiding my warranty for you guy's enjoyment! ( And mine too of course )

Following are some pictures of the insides. I tried making them as good as my limited equipment and skills will allow.
I also filmed myself taking it apart while rambling about, If you ever feel like watching my noob attempts at youtube and hear my non-native english :p

There are some retro trio that will have a problem with the NES sound in some games. Apparently some other SR3 do not have this problem. This is still a little mysterious but it is believed that this is caused by there being two different Variants of the NOAC being used for those consoles. My personal SR3 does have this glitch. Would be interesting if there are observable differences in the PCB of a console without the audio problem.

Cool. I guess you will or already have done what Satoshi Matrix did to his system to get some components working great.

Though his NES problems must be different than yours for him to do these odd things.

I wish the NES part was a Famicom part instead, since the NES to FC adapters are $13 on eBay.

I possibly will. Thing Is I do not have Virtua Racing and probably wont play much NES/FC on that thing considering my SR3 has the audio glitch. And besides, I have a RGB famicom so both mods are not very relevant to me personally.
I might still do them for kicks.

As far as modding goes, I would like to improve Genesis audio noise and jailbars. I also think it could be interesting to get RGB out of the SNES part. Don't know if it can be done with the genesis part. I will have to investigate the GOAC.

Cool. Hope to see a more simplified version, but that's more work. At least Genesis systems aren't exactly flying off the shelves like Nintendos.

When Im done working on this thing I will likely create a "Super retro trio Modding" thread or something with all the details and instructions.
The S-video Jailbar fix has the problem that It makes your composite Black and white. It is all nice if all you want to use is s-video but I would like to have the option to use composite too.

I'm going to avoid all this by getting a Famicom before I get one of these. Granted the Trio is better than the Retron 5 but still, I need a decent NES/Famicom that isn't just my Dreamcast streaming roms from a disc.

Apparently if you get one of the SR3 with good APU, that is pretty much the best Famiclone out there. Not sure how common they are though.

Too bad you can't play the Famicom part anyway for cheap.
