Super Smash Bros N64 Cartridge broken

    More recently I have been using Brasso wadding to clean cart connectors and it works very well. Don't be too vigorous when cleaning of the excess Brasso with a duster or you will take of the contact surface.

    On Nintendo and SEGA cartridges the contacts are coated with gold so Brasso would be a little too hash.

    An Faber-Castell 7082-20 or other vinyl pencil eraser is more gentle with the cartridge. Only drawback is that you need to open the cartridge to use it.

    Yes, with a pencil eraser you need to open the cart to get to the traces to clean them however a lot of carts open with regular screwdrivers, and those that don't (eg N64, SNES, Megadrive) you can get a GameBit screwdriver (2 sizes) and that takes care of the awkward ones. Cheap solution to the problem too.

    Although intuitive, a good video for those unfamiliar with basic troubleshooting. Great job.
