I was wondering if anyone knows for sure if the Super UFO 8 is "safe" to use in the long run or will it cause damage because of the way it was designed? Anybody have info on this? I know "My Life in Gaming" made a video explaining in depth, but on the other hand I've seen Video Game Perfection has noted that it is designed badly? https://www.videogameperfection.com/2012/03/21/superufo-pro-8-reviewed-and-demonstrated/ "Update July 2017 – According to DBElectronics, the SuperUFO Pro 8 is designed badly and may cause excessive wear and tear on your SNES console. We’ve adjusted the score accordingly." I tried looking more info on claim posted by Video Game Perfection but couldn't find anything. I mainly want to use it as a region bypass cart to play Japanese games with english patches on my Japanese Super Famicom. (Not sure if this is even possible). Similar to "My Life in Gaming" video. I know there is the Pro Action Replay cart and other bypass carts out there. I'm just looking for options.
An older backup unit might be "safer" since 5v parts were far more common in their day. Or just get a well designed flash cartridge.
I have a UFO7 that' been running fine for 20 years or so and hasn't caused any consoles to explode. Indisputable scientific proof that this is the best solution.
