I realise this may be daft, but is it possible to wire up the SuperCIC so that it takes care of the security settings and leave the video mode switching to a manual switch? I prefer using a switch to change 50/60hz and really just want the SuperCIC chip to sort out the lockout chip so I can enjoy all my games but still retain full manual control via an ugly switch on the back of my console :p

If this is the case, working off mmmonkey's tute, all I need to do is wire up the SuperCIC as follows:

    SuperCIC Pin 01 = Pin 18 CIC (+5v)
    SuperCIC Pin 02 = Pin 07 CIC
    SuperCIC Pin 03 = Disconnected/floating
    SuperCIC Pin 04 = Disconnected/floating
    SuperCIC Pin 05 = Disconnected/floating
    SuperCIC Pin 06 = Disconnected/floating
    SuperCIC Pin 07 = Disconnected/floating
    SuperCIC Pin 08 = Pin 11 CIC
    SuperCIC Pin 09 = Pin 02 CIC
    SuperCIC Pin 10 = Pin 01 CIC
    SuperCIC Pin 11 = Pin 10 CIC
    SuperCIC Pin 12 = Disconnected/floating
    SuperCIC Pin 13 = Pin 08 CIC
SuperCIC Pin 14 = Pin 09 CIC (GND)

With the relevant pins on the CIC disconnected of course.

Any thoughts? Disregarding the fact that it's probably weird to want to retain the manual switch for the refresh rate and that I don't want to replace the LED of course.

well, i have manual switch to turn the lockout on/off and another for 50/60Hz.
it's been a while since i did that so i'd have to dig out the instructions i used for it, but lemme know if you're interested

i dont really know if that super CIC messes with anything but you can just wire 50/60Hz switch straight from the machine itself.

edit: nevermind, i still had it on bookmarks:
    http://www.gamesx.com/importmod/snes5060.htm

that's how i did it, with superCIC, i'd assume it still works if you just leave the pins of superCIC dealing with 50/60Hz disconnected. Though dont quote me on that, i've never installed superCIC

At the moment my SNES has the two switches to enable/disable the lockout chip and sort out 50/60hz switching; the reason I'm installing a SuperCIC is to sort out the titles that don't work using the usual mod.

I've decided I'm just going to give it a whirl and see what happens - I'll re-attach the CIC connection from the existing switch back to the PCB and then install the SuperCIC as per the notes above and see what happens. After I've sorted this one out I'm then going to tackle a 50/60hz and SuperCIC mod on my 1chip SNES as I just found out (because I'm daft and missed it earlier) that it has better video output than the usual revisions.
