Do arcade boards (jamma) get their voltage from the harness? Or do you have to hook up each board varying by the voltages needed for each one?

my MVS and ST-V run fine with the +5V and +12V lines on the harness... there is also -5 and -12 but few boards use them.

    JAMMA doesn't have -12v.

The voltage should almost always go through the JAMMA harness in an arcade machine... certainly with JAMMA standard boards.

-5V is only used occasionally - I think that technically you can do without it on MVS.

Don't forget the minimum current draw on each rail, though!

Not only can you do without -5V on MVS and ST-V, it is also not present on official Neo cabs.

Err, well wiring Naomi to JAMMA isn't exactly as easy as some harnesses. You need the Sega board and a PSU...

Oh, or you could go with the Capcom thing. Check it out here.

*Edit* Sorry I shouldn't say that, it may confuse.

Naomi NEEDS a JAMMA cabinet (or Supergun). However, you're supposed to use Sega's PSU (disconnect the original entirely) and Sega's Coin Acceptor. That's the official way of doing it.

I believe Capcom's way uses the PSU of the actual cab.

It just depends how complete a Naomi setup you have. Personally, I'd rather have a Naomi cabinet for Naomi playing - then I'd know I had everything straight away.
