I found the following information while browsing the gamesx website: Is it possible to do it the other way round? I would like to attach a NES controller plug to a SNES controller. Can I do it just as described above? What would be the A and B Buttons on the SNES controller?
I am sorry Barcode you are incorrect and lets take a look at what you would have won... In fact if you plugged a SNES controller into a NES then you would need to use button Y to be button A.
i was just messing about, hence why i put at the end. Jamtex loves to correct me because he's got a crush on meP
As I've heard the SNES Y and B would be equal to NES B and A. Which is the ideal layout I would think.
Oh yes this actually works sirs. In a desperate move as a kid I wired up a SNES controller into a NES using the old dpadpro diagrams as a guide. All buttons work but two and the shoulder. I kid you not.
Definately the idea layout. Alot of games that are on NES and SNES use Y and B for the NES B and A. Now that i think about it, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy on SNES uses the SNES A and B buttons and it just feels really uncomfortable.
Yes that bothered me too. It made no sense to me why the used B and A rather than Y and B in Ninja Gaiden Trilogy. Ofcourse there are more weird games like Battletoads where Y and A jump, and B attacks. Why would you do this? It's stupid ever since Super Mario Bros and countless other games determined that Shoot/Attack is on the left and jump is on the right. And why would you tilt the primary buttons the WRONG WAY. Sometimes you wonder what idiot came up with the control schemes.
Make sense cause Y and B are the main button on a snes controller so they have the two first bit in the controller data. Just like B and A are the main button on nes controller so they use the two first bits too.
I personally perfer the dog bone controller that was released with the top loading nes, which is quite simularlly shaped.
