$499 is about $100 too high for me. And even that is stretching it. I know the PS3 is going to have titles I want, like RPGs and stuff, but there just arent enough appealing things to justify giving away that much money. Besides, it will be a cold day in Hell when I buy a launch console.
I ll do my best to try and win one in a contest. A friend of mine got an XBOX 360 in the same way, and she sold it for quite alot of money , when it had first launched
Sony better lowers the price or something, these numbers must be the worst ones in any PS console pre-launch. With PS3 you can expect hype to grow much faster, maybe to the point of a 400 or 500 bucks profit margin!
I might try my hand at a pre order at virgin again. But i will only take it up if i have cash in my hands from the buyer. No way am i going to get stuck with a £600 console!
I wouldn't be suprised if there's a lot of scammers in launch day selling the crippled version as the full one. After all, if you switch boxes there's no way the buyer could find out until he opens it and sees the lack of HDMI and memory ports. And for a 400-500 profit on each unit I can see a lot of scammers taking the risk.
I wouldn't call MSNBC neutral since it was a major player in the stock market hype of the late 90s, which drove people to cash their college and retirement funds to buy stocks just to see how their money vaporized after the Nasdaq crash...
Where is this survey exactly? I cant find it anywhere on their site including the poll archives...Could be fanboys work. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3080261/page/2/ Edit: Found it http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12694724/ Its been said though, not exactly an unbaised source. If the Xbox360's on ebay are any indication I dont think Sony is going to have trouble selling them out.
Well you also have to buy titles with your system. Any software prices yet? Are we talking about $575 out the door with two titles, the console, and tax? Add an extra controller?
I was going to mention that but MS announced some months ago they are going to bail out from the deal.
