    Hello,

I recently posted this thread, asking about the possibility of installing a mod in a Sega 32X to restore compatibility with the Master System Converter II and Magic Key III: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads...agic-key-iii-compatibility-to-sega-32x.64664/

I understand that such a mod is possible, although it is a very complicated procedure requiring surgeon-like precision: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showth...ing-on-the-32X&p=687032&viewfull=1#post687032

I've no soldering skills so I wouldn't be able to modify the 32X myself. Are there any skilled modders on this forum who would be able to install this modification for me?

I'm from Sydney, Australia. I'm using a Genesis 32X, Japanese Sega Mega Drive 2 with Japanese Sega CD 2.

The images on Sega 16 can't be viewed without an account. And unfortunately getting verified on that site is as good as impossible :(

Man I would love to do this. After getting an Everdrive, unplugging the 32x to play SMS makes me not want to play them.

Ohhooooo I'm anything but precision... it's exactly why I don't tend to do work for others, who else was in Australia that can repair things well... Actually having a closer looking at the photos it shouldn't be too bad to do.

Have you ever wanted to give soldering a try @Jarrah White? Everyone starts somewhere! :) That said always start on something you don't mind destroying if you do go down the path of learning to solder - don't want to fry your SH-2!

Fixed that up for you - http://imgur.com/gallery/YTCFy

Thanks for the pictures, but where's the photos showing the Master System Converter playing in the 32X? The pictures only show a Genesis cartridge inserted in the 32X. I don't have any soldering skills or even soldering equipment, that's why I'm looking for a someone who could do the mod for me.

I'm the member "Segaedge" on that thread, as you can see there I did the the mod but it seems to have its perks and may or may not work properly on different Sega setups.

What kind of perks? My setup involves a Japanese Sega Mega Drive 2, a Japanese Sega Mega CD 2, a Master System Converter II, a Magic Key III for post-1993 cartridge games, an Everdrive that I simply use for loading the CD BIOS for NTSC or PAL CD games, and of course the Genesis 32X. I output with the RGB Csync SCART cable that I purchased from retrogamingcables.co.uk, which goes into my Bandridge manual SCART switcher which goes into a SCART to HDMI upscaler.

This is the converter I use.

And this is the Switcher I use.

^ it seems to work best only with the everdrive (for playing SMS games) rather than using the actual SMS converters and carts, so if you load SMS onto the everdrive you should be good. You could add a region switch to take care of that problem too.

Also, If you read through you'll see that the mod works only with certain Genesis/MD2 revisions , if your MD2 has zilog branded z80 then most likely won't work.

I tend to prefer physical copies of games rather than playing ROMs off an emulation cart. What kind of compatibility Issues are there with the SMS converter and cartridges?

Based on my results it doesn't seem to be 100% compatible with the actual converter & carts. Read through that thread so you get an idea.
