I don't care what you think of me for saying this but that is totally out of order,if you state a price, you sell it for that after you have finalised the deal.

We should have a rule on the board about his like NTSC uk does. This is just plain out of order.Your now using the board to pimp your ebay auction.Legit was talkin shite when he said 500 dollars anyway. :angry :angry

Man... id love to see the day when people can just post their stuff they have for sale without getting a slagging off... All i can guess at is that the angry people are also the ones that can't afford the loot, so they kick up a fuss... its those people that drive sellers of "rare, prototype, and developers video game" stuff away from these boards...

    let the rants continue....

   )

People aren't slagging you or Exarkun for selling stuff, you're getting an earful for the dubious way in which you do it. You know exactly why people complained about your stunt, so don't act fucking innocent.

Bottom line, if you sell your items in a dodgy manner, expect to be called up. You know when you're doing it.

Okay, i apologise, what i did was a dodgy selling practice, even though my buyer offered to let me back out of the deal because he felt guilty that he had brought it at a low price, and did not realise what it could be worth. I should have still sold it to him for the agreed price.

So i apologise to the board, and assure everyone that i won't do this again.

After all the rest of my dealings over the weekend have been honerable and smooth.

  9. Don't you start, you know exactly why we got on your case about those GD-Rs, now be a man and admit where you screwed up.

Exarkun has the grace and dignity to admit where he was wrong and said he won't do it again, which is more than you can currently say.

I don't think its dishonorable how everything ended up. It would have been pretty dodgy IMO for the buyer to get it for a steal from an unknowing seller.

He's selling it for money because he needs money and he changed his mind because he realised how much it's really worth and that's it, nothing wrong with it, he didn't rip anyone off. It'd rather be taking advantage of somebody if you know the real value but pay a lot less (if he doesn't know/care it doesn't really matter but it's still like that).

The only advice I'd give Exarkun is that he'd look up real values before he sells something next time.

Sorry but I've got to respectfully disagree. Like you said it is up to the seller to research the current market value of whatever they are selling. If a person makes a deal and then realizes the value later on then it is their loss and they need to do the right thing and complete the deal for the agreed upon price. The seller can ask to back out of the deal but unless the buyer agrees (which I gather happened here) then a deal is a deal. In the end all a person really has is their word and once you lose that it is pretty hard to get back.

I would just like to clear one bit up, i did NOT ask to back out of the deal, the buyer offered to let me out of the deal.

Though as stated before i should not have done this i should have researched the true worth of the item before selling it.

Fair enough then mate,I was really just stating that too much of this is going on an we need to come up with a rule that once a price is stated, that is it,also we need to have something that says you have to state a price when posting.I'm not personally attacking you as a person ,I just thought it was unfair and a bit out of order.

If the buyer backed out and you withdrew the item, fair enough. It's just that this is meant to be a board for collectors and enthusiasts and we have always stated a loathing for ebay and pimping auctions, so why change things now.If you want to sel things on ebay no problem, it's just I don't feel this is the part of the board that should allow ebay pimping or it will just be overrun with it.

I really value you as a member oof the board exarkun and you seem like a really good guy, I certainly don't think you are scum.We just need to come up with some guidlines for this part of the board, that's all I think.

Excellent idea. Fix a price at the start and stick with it.

That's absolutely fair, and a very reasonable way of doing business. Nobody here is doubting your honesty. The backlash came to a certain degree from the fact that you were making a thread dedicated to an ebay auction, when it says on the front page of this forum "No Ebay whoring allowed". There's also a thread stickied for ebay finds, I doubt anyone would have minded it being posted there as it's quite an interesting item.

Well, just to let you know i was the orignal buyer. I Offered Exarcun the chance to back out for a couple of reasons - Firstly as can be seen on the from the auction it is currently at a pretty good price - A hell of a lot more than the £20 that he was going to sell for

Secondly The guys just lost his job - I don't know anything about his background, but I'm guessing that If he sells this for a good price on eBay it will make a pretty good difference to him and the comfort of his life. And really, I don't see much problem in linking to the auction here - I found it pretty useful for checking up on the status of the auction, Much easier than scrolling through the eBay finds thread

Anyways just to clarify, I let the seller back out - Anyway i hadn't even paid him at this point, so all it id to me was meant i lost the chance to own a system disc 2, but i definately felt a lot better knowing he'd get a better price thanI could ever offer him, particularly considering his current circumstances job-wise

Noble sentiments and all that, but seeing as he has already made at least £1500 selling his stuff here... and ignoring the way in which he told everyone he aquired them...

I have a question, how do you work out that i've made £1500?

I sold a dev kit for £250 and another one with everything for £350, then the nr discs and gba conference book for £100.

As i work that out that's only £700, so if the true worth of these items is £1500 people have done extremly well through my nieve dealings here.
