Now for the question: Does anybody have a pointer where I could get the System Software v2.80 or newer for a PS3 Reference TOOL DECR-1000A? I think it is the file /target/updater/ref-tool/PS3UPDAT.PUP.NNN.0xx from a recent PS3 SDK, with NNN >= 280. I'm not asking for the whole SDK, as I'm not interested in programming this unit (there is still enough to do for my PS2 projects :nod. I just need the firmware update to use the machine for gaming; unfortunately, FF13 requires at least v2.80 and refuses to start with the ancient flash version I have installed OH:. I think i have the debug firmware updates until 3.15 ,if thats what you are looking for. Let me know if you need one and i will upload it somewhere.
I don't know if the debug stations use the same firmware as the reference tool. I doubt it, but I'd like to be proven wrong ;-). Can you please upload it (latest version preferred, but anything higher than 2.80 should work for me)? Was this a separate file from SCE, or did it come as part of an SDK? Okay, I tried to install the debug firmware version 3.15 kindly provided by pitsunami (thanks again :thumbsup, but unfortunately it does not work :-(. The TOOL recognizes the update file with the correct version and copies it to the hard drive, then reboots. After restart, it gives the error message "The file format is not supported (8002F029)" (translated from german; I can get the exact english message in case anyone needs the exact wording). I get the same behaviour if I insert the BD-R that requires 2.80 (FF13) and agree to let it update the firmware itself: it copies the "update files" to the HDD, but displays the above error message after reboot. So my original question still stands: does anybody have access to the PS3 SDK version 2.80 or later and could send me the included PS3UPDAT.PUP? I assume the SDK is the only source of a system software update usable on a reference tool :banghead:. Thread necromancy... FF13-2 is about to be released around here, so I basically have the same problem as two years before. Therefore I'm going to renew my request: does anyone have the necessary System Software Update for the Reference TOOL? I do not know the exact version number yet (I will once the disk arrives), but I have heard that something like 3.72 would be required. Anyway, the newer the update, the better. 4.00 should definitely suffice ;-). As last time, I am not interested in the full SDK (I do not program for the PS3). I am only interested in the updater PUP for the DECR-1000A Reference Tool, which is included in an SDK release in the /cell/target/updater/ref-tool directory. So if anyone could send me just this single file, I would be eternally grateful :drool:.
Grab the 3.70 SDK floating around. The file you are looking for is PS3DECRUpdateData.372.001.zip (which is included in the SDK). If you just extract the '2011-10PS3SDKOfflineInstaller.exe' with WinRAR (this saves you from having to install everything), the file you are looking for is in:
yeah you need like 4.00 for FF13 there is no public CFW for the DECR units... if you pm me though and your not a douche i might be willing to share my personal DECR CFW which will allow you to install retail packages and shit.
